What is Microneedling?
When over-the-counter skin care products no longer provide effective results, but you don't want to pursue surgical options, consider nonsurgical procedures for skin rejuvenation, like SkinPen® and Eclipse MicroPen® microneedling. Our skilled team is pleased to offer microneedling (collagen induction therapy). Microneedling uses a device with several fine needles to effectively and safely create micro-injuries in the skin. The micro-injuries prompt the natural production of collagen and elastin. These two nutrients increase the appearance and health of your complexion. Often combined with other treatments, such as vitamin serums or platelet-rich plasma (PRP), microneedling may help minimize scars, pores, and stretch marks. Schedule a consultation at Nirvana Med Spa in Little Rock, AR to learn more about microneedling and ways to customize the treatment for your skin concerns and goals.
"This spa is like none I've seen in Central Arkansas. I went in to get a facial and found out I could get Laser hair removal, botox, and prp microneedling all at one place. They are even offering stem cell therapy for medical conditions. Check out Dr. Hashmi and his staff at Nirvana."- A.P. / Yelp / Mar 05, 2019

If you have slight complexion issues, such as rough skin texture, diminished tone or color, and low elasticity, you may benefit from microneedling. Microneedling treatments may also reduce the look of pores, stretch marks, sun damage, and scars. Because microneedling stimulates the production of collagen, you will need to wait about a month or longer before seeing your final results. As collagen production increases, you should experience natural-looking results and gain healthier, stronger skin.
Our Microneedling Technique
Generally taking about 30 – 60 minutes, we perform microneedling treatments in a private procedure room. If needed, we can apply local anesthesia or numbing cream. However, patients usually only experience mild or no pain and discomfort. At the beginning of your appointment, we will clean the treatment area and pass the microneedling handpiece over the skin. After performing the microneedling treatment, we can apply an additional topical treatment, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or a vitamin-infused serum. The micro-injuries made by the microneedling handpiece allow the nutrients to penetrate deeper into the skin. To help protect your sensitive skin after the procedure, we will use a personalized moisturizer with SPF.
What to Expect
Following the procedure, you may experience redness and swelling for about a day; however, these symptoms should naturally fade. You may also experience some peeling for about 3 – 5 days. If this happens, you should avoid picking the skin and use a moisturizer to reduce the dryness. As your elastin and collagen nutrients increase, it can take about 1 – 2 months until you see noticeable changes in the appearance and health of your complexion. For ideal results and long-lasting skin health, you should plan to schedule about 4 – 6 follow-up treatments every 4 – 6 weeks.
